Super 8 Trailer and Synopsis!

After a vague Super Bowl teaser for the J.J. Abrams film Super 8, we finally have a full trailer that gives us more of an in-depth look at the movie, along with a synopsis of the film from Collider.

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Abrams still manages to tease us by keeping the monster off-camera but we do get to see some of the events that transpire after the train wreck. Missing dogs, missing people, and a strong military presence gives off a strong impression that what we’re dealing with here isn’t some cute and cuddly thing that just wants to be loved. Our invisible boogie-man appears to be mean, and the abuse given to the hatch on its railway prison indicates that its strong too.

While we still don’t get to see what all the fuss is about, it’s nice to see some of the actual story, and kids using the old time-honored Super-8 film instead of doing the digital thing might even make old-fashioned film popular again… at least for a little while.
