Superman – Amy Adams is Zack Snyder’s Lois Lane

The Man of Steel just got a little enchanted as Hero Complex brings word that Amy Adams has been signed to play Superman’s leading lady, Lois Lane. In typical Hollywood fashion, she got the news from director Zack Snyder when he phoned her from Paris to let her know she had landed the highly coveted role. Snyder is currently on the other side of the Big Pond to promote Sucker Punch.

According to Snyder, “There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

While Snyder did throw the media a bone with the casting news, he’s still keeping a lid on the plot details, although he did mention that Lois will be updated with a contemporary feel.

“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today,” Snyder said, “What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”

Recent casting news for the Superman reboot has been met with mixed reactions, from the less than stellar reaction of fans regarding Kevin Costner as Pa Kent to rave responses about Diane Lane being the new Martha Kent. What do you think about Amy Adams being the Lois Lane of the 21st Century?
