Bryan Cranston, Eliza Dushku and Katee Sackhoff in Batman: Year One

A new animated film is in production. THR reports that Batman: Year One will be an adaptation of the Frank Miller comic book classic of the same name. It is set to come to us via Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. Wait until you hear who will voice the characters.

Here is the line up:

Ben McKenzie is Bruce Wayne
Bryan Cranston is James Gordon (Breaking Bad, The Lincoln Lawyer)
Eliza Dushku is Catwoman (Dollhouse, Sports Radio) Awesome choice!
Katee Sackhoff is Sarah Essen (Battlestar Galactica, Longmire)

I’m stoked Sarah Essen is included in this story. In many of the comics, Sarah is a cop partnered with Gordon and they have an affair even though Gordon is married. While reading Batman: No Man’s Land, the novel by Greg Rucka, I couldn’t help but feel Sarah was Jim’s soul mate. Do you think her character will also make it to the big screen in Batman: The Dark Knight Rises? Get the latest casting news on that picture now.

Here’s what to expect from the storyline:

In Year One, a young Bruce Wayne is first starting out as a costumed vigilante. He creates an early bond with Lieutenant James Gordon, whose importance in the tale makes it as much as Gordon’s story as Wayne’s.

I have yet to watch Batman: Under the Red Hood, but I did see Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, which was okay and quite nostalgic. Do you have high expectations for Batman: Year One?
