Grey’s Anatomy’s Katherine Heigl in The Knitting Circle for HBO

How is this for newsworthy? Actress Katherine Heigl is making a return to the small screen, and we are not just talking cameo appearance here! Whether you welcomed her into your home when she was a part of the Roswell cast as the alien Isabel Evans, or you fell love with her as (how weird is this?) Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy, you’re getting her back on the air waves.
TV Line made the announcement, calling this her first TV stint since her departure from Grey’s. The HBO semi-autobiography in development now is called The Knitting Circle. Heigl is poised to produce and star in it, so we can only speculate that it is a project she really believes in! It is based upon the Ann Hood best-selling novel of the same name.
The Knitting Circle will put Heigl into the shoes of a young mother “mourning the death of her daughter and struggling to overcome the grief that jeopardizes every aspect of her life — including her marriage.” Surprisingly, what helps put the character back on her own two feet again is joining a local knitting circle. TV Line also reported “Dirty Sexy Money creator and award-wining playwright Craig Wright will pen the adaptation,” drawing Wright “back into the HBO fold for the first time since his days as a Six Feet Under scribe.”
