Savages – Blake Lively, John Travolta and Uma Thurman In?

It’s shaping up to be a star studded cast for Savages directed by Oliver Stone, or at least that what the folks over at Deadline are saying.

Lindsay Lohan (or is it just Lindsay now?) will be saddened to hear that she did not, in fact, get her dream role. It seems like the honor of the character of Ophelia, the kidnapped girlfriend, goes to Blake Lively.

Along with Lively, both John Travolta and Uma Thurman (as a burnt out DEA agent, and Ophelia’s mom, respectively) have been approached for roles in the film. Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Salma Hayek, and Benicio del Toro, have already been confirmed for the project.

Savages, co-written by Stone, is based on the crime and mystery writer Don Winslow’s novel of the same name. Deadline gives this writeup of the plot:

In Savages, two pals from Laguna Beach pals share the same girlfriend and a thriving business growing and distributing the best-quality pot on the planet. When they resist being muscled by a Mexican drug cartel , the girl is kidnapped and the ransom is every cent they’ve made for the last five years. They agree to pay but hatch an alternate plan to get her back, get revenge, and then get lost.

Principle photography for the film will begin in July. Universal Pictures will be financing and distributing Savages.
