The Killing’s Mireille Enos Joins Brad Pitt in World War Z

With shows on TV like The Walking Dead and box-office hits like Zombieland shining the spotlight on corpses that don’t seem to realize they’re deceased, all the studios are looking for “the next big zombie thing”, and the movie adaptation of World War Z might be it. After being slowed down because of its hefty $125 million price tag, the film seems to be back on track, and all the fears of it being nothing but a B-movie vanished almost overnight when Brad Pitt signed on for a lead role.

The latest Z news from Deadline reveals that the movie that almost wasn’t is close to snagging another big name. Mireille Enos might not have any big screen experience but she’s gotten plenty of attention with AMC’s The Killing and HBO’s Big Love. For World War Z, she’s being considered for the part of Karin Lane, the wife of Gerard Lane (Brad Pitt).

The Max Brooks novel is a different type of horror story, with things taking place after the major action has already gone down and a researcher for the UN Postwar Commission interviews survivors ten years after a global zombie war.

Paramount is hoping to keep things on track for a Summer 2012 release.
