X-Men First Class UK Trailer

What is it with the brains behind X-Men: First Class? They’ll show some really cool photos, like the one of Mystique and Hank McCoy under the Blackbird or Havok in the Danger Room, and then they’ll toss out a really uninspiring poster, which could almost kill any desire to see the film.

But then, we get a truly awesome trailer that ramps up the excitement levels once more. Take one popular Marvel comic book, toss in a little US history, and you have the X-Men doing what they do best while in the midst of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The action and effects look awesome, and I’m especially excited that the filmmakers were able to adapt the original X-Men uniforms for the big screen prequel.

However, I’m really hoping that First Class isn’t all about flashy style and big explosions. This is the moment that sets Erik on the path of becoming Magneto, the time when two friends become enemies, and I really hope director Matthew Vaughn takes advantage of the actual story that can be told. I think I see some actual plot peeking through the CGI so this could actually turn out to be awesome.
