Charlie Sheen Replaced by Hugh Grant in Two and a Half Men?

A big question on a lot of people’s mind has been who will replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men? Several names have been thrown around, with varying degrees of believability. Last night, Hugh Grant came close to getting the job.

Here’s the info from Deadline‘s Nikki Finke:

I’ve learned that one-time bad boy Hugh Grant was deep into final negotiations to replace Charlie Sheen as the lead on Two And A Half Men until he pulled out last night at the last minute due to creative differences. Insiders tell me he’d been offered more than $1 million an episode, which is the sort of $25M-a-year payday Grant doesn’t get from movies anymore.

I don’t know if I could see Grant on Two and a Half Men. He doesn’t strike me as someone who could fit in with that show’s atmosphere. Well we won’t have to worry about that. Whoever ends up being the new actor though will need to be pretty low maintenance compared to Charlie Sheen. Chuck Lorre is looking for someone excited to do the job and won’t cause problems. It’s understanding that Lorre doesn’t want to have to go through that headache of a situation again. If a suitable actor can’t be found soon, the show might not be ready for the fall season and Lorre might call it quits on the series.

Finding someone like that shouldn’t be difficult. Right?
