Ethan Hawke Joins Colin Farrell in Total Recall

There are two re-makes in production now that have me very excited. Both star Colin Farrell. How unusual is that? One is the revamp, hehehe, of the horror classic, Fright Night, while the other is a fresh look at Total Recall. But, hey, this should not be new news to you, people! In fact, filming will begin in Toronto sometime this summer for the sci-fi reboot.
Now what? Well, THR has the exclusive that Ethan Hawke is all aboard for some Total Recall, as well. Will he be joined by Eva Mendez? Kate Beckinsale? We don’t know yet!
Here’s what we do know (via THR):
The new story ditches the Martian storyline and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.
Hmm. I wonder if that’s closer to the Philip K. Dick story, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. I’ve yet to read it.
What else has Ethan Hawke been up to of late? 2010 saw the actor as a vampire in Daybreakers and as a pressured cop in Brooklyn’s Finest. 2011 will see him in something called Tonight at Noon.
