Michelle Williams Joins Mila Kunis and James Franco in Oz, The Great and Powerful

Classic fantasy fans will soon return to Oz thanks to Disney’s Oz, The Great and Powerful, an upcoming live action film. Variety now reports actress Michelle Williams has won the role of Glinda the good witch. It is about time we see her in a goody, goody role, eh?
Described as a prequel, Sam Raimi is directing the picture, with plans to being shooting in Michigan, in July.
Mila Kunis also acts in the film, while James Franco portrays a “snake-oil salesman [who will] face off against [Glinda's] evil sisters, to be played by Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis, in a struggle for control of the magical land of Oz.” Interesting!
Michelle Williams appeared last in Blue Valentine, the romantic pot boiler, opposite Ryan Gosling, and, according to Variety, has wrapped My Week With Marilyn with Emma Watson. Fans will also see her in Take This Waltz, a picture “making the rounds at Cannes” as we speak.
Oz, the Great and Powerful “was penned by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. Joe Roth produces. No release date has been set, but Disney is eager to have Oz follow in the footsteps of Alice in Wonderland, which broke the $1 billion mark at the B.O. Pic could bow as early as fall 2012.”
