One Tree Hill Back for Season 9, Nikita Renewed

Things are winding down for 2010-2011 season. The networks are making their final decisions on what shows get to live to fight another day and which ones get sent to TV hell. The CW has made it’s final decisions before announcing its 2011-2012 schedule. Fans of the long running drama One Tree Hill will be uber stoked that the show has been renewed for a ninth season with an order for 13 episodes to premiere midseason. This was pretty much a no brainer since the cast all signed on for next season last month. I swear that show is immortal, and in a good way.
The rookie show Nikita, based on the 1990 french film of the same name, received a full season order. Of all the new shows on the CW, Nikita had the most potential. From day one, the show was chalk-full of action, sexiness, and excellent plot twists to keep you infested. Maggie Q and Lyndsy Fonseca have been gripping to watch as they take down Division from the inside.
But what about that other CW program? The one with the cheerleaders? TV Line says this:
The Tom Welling-produced cheer drama Hellcats didn’t fare as well, and has officially been canceled.
Well dang it. I know this is going to upset a lot of Hellcats fans. I’ve already seen a few online petitions to save the show in the past week, but at the end of the day it’s too little too late. A few rabid fans can only do so much, but petitions don’t help a struggling show in the ratings which is ultimately what matters.
