STARZ – Torchwood: Miracle Day Teaser

For anyone who doesn’t know, Torchwood is a spin-off of the popular British science fiction show Doctor Who. Torchwood follows a small team of alien hunters. With each new series the show has changed broadcast channels. The fourth series (subtitled Miracle Day) will begin airing on July 8th and there’s a new teaser for the series. It’s short, only about ten seconds in length, but it gives us a sense of how things will feel.
“No one dies these days.”
We already know that the concept of the series will be “What if nobody died?” It’s sounds pretty heavy to me. Living in a world where no one dies becomes a frightening idea when you think about it long enough. I’m a little annoyed at how short the teaser is. Ten seconds? Come on! I want more. But hey, it did it’s job wonderfully. I feel incredibly teased. To the point of infuriatingly teased. But life goes on, and I’m sure a longer/bigger trailer will surface soon enough as July draws nearer.
Along with the teaser comes news of a spin-off webseries called Torchwood: Web of Lies. Show writer Jane Espenson spilled the beans on her twitter.
And she hinted about who would be starring in this online spin-off: “We have Faith in Web of Lies. There is an Echo of my past.” She also thanks Eliza Dushku directly.
Faith and Echo are names of two characters that Dushku has played in the past, both of which Espenson was a writer on. It’s pretty cryptic, but it’s there.
