Tarsem’s Snow White adds Nathan Lane and Robert Emms?

Relativity and Universal have been in a race to the big screen with their Snow White projects, but the latest casting choices revealed by THR indicates the two studios are actually working on two completely different projects that probably won’t be in danger of competing with each other.

Nathan Lane is in final negotiations to bring his wit and sarcasm to Relativity’s untitled Snow White film, which used to be known as The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. The movie, being directed by Tarsem Singh, stars Julia Roberts as the evil queen, Lily Collins as Snow White, and Armie Hammer as the prince in disguise, who’s looking for someone that will love him, and not just his royal title.

If negotiations go well, Lane will be stepping into the role of the queen’s main servant, and anyone familiar with his brand of comedy probably has an idea of how that will go down.

Robert Emms, who doesn’t currently have any big screen exposure, has signed on as the prince’s man-in-waiting, although there’s no word yet on how large or small this role might be.

While Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman seems to be taking the adventure route, Relativity says their Snow White will be a “spirited adventure comedy.” It’s expected to start shooting in June, with a release scheduled for June 29, 2012.
