The Big Bang Theory – “The Roommate Transmogrification” – review

The Big Bang Theory season 4 finale review

Both seeking privacy, Leonard and Raj agree to switch apartments until Priya can find an apartment of her own. Meanwhile, Bernadette earns her Ph.D. and accepts a lucrative job from a pharmaceutical company.

Soon after Leonard moved in, Priya received a video conference call from her parents. She was still embarrassed to tell them about Leonard, but they figured out she was covering something up. They also mentioned Priya’s plan to move back to India in a month, which was news to Leonard.

Breaking up with Priya, Leonard spent the night back on his old apartment couch, but by then Sheldon had gotten used to Raj as his roommate. For Penny’s part, surprised at Leonard’s move, she had confided in Raj that she regretted breaking up with Leonard. Raj was feeling lonely, as usual. One drink led to another, and the next morning, Penny and Raj woke up in bed together. They walked out groggily, only to be seen by Leonard.

I don’t know quite what to make of Penny and Raj. It promises to spice up the dynamic between Leonard and Raj, and if Priya finds out, she’s sure to have something to say.

Howard and Bernadette’s storyline was tame by comparison, though I did like the fact that Howard was over his insecurities and supportive of Bernadette’s new job. They only had a fight after Bernadette treated him to an expensive Rolex.

Season 4 ends with the characters in intriguing places. There are many possible directions to go from here. I hope the writers are up to the challenge.
