Thor – Chris Hemsworth – In Snow White with Kristen Stewart?

The Huntsman seems to be getting younger with each passing day as Deadline reports that Chris Hemsworth is the latest person to be considered for the male lead in Snow White and the Huntsman.

Universal’s twisted fairy tale has had more than its fair share of casting problems when it comes to finding someone to star opposite Kristen Stewart’s Snow White. Viggo Mortensen spent some considerable time as the frontrunner for the role, but soon stepped down when contract negotiations fell through. Next up was Hugh Jackman, and then Joel Edgerton was rumored to be up for the part.

Now it looks like the thunder god himself might be paired up with the Twilight: Breaking Dawn chick, and I’m starting to get worried that Snow White and the Huntsman might be getting ready to tread into uncomfortable territory. Incidentally, before your mind gets sullied with the idea below, check out our review of Thor, which is sure to make Hemsworth a coveted actor for many future projects.

The relationship between Snow White and her mentor/protector was meant to echo a father/daughter relationship, which would have worked with someone like Mortensen or Jackman, but Hemsworth is considerably younger than either of them. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the studio doesn’t decide to add a romantic angle as the age of our Huntsman gets closer to that of Stewart’s Snow White.

On the bright side, Hemworth’s commitment to The Avengers might help him avoid such a fate if the scheduling doesn’t work out just right.
