Wachowski’s Cloud Atlas Adds Hugo Weaving and Ben Whishaw, Confirmed Halle Berry

The film already being hailed as the next Matrix has put some more casting decisions in writing. Tom Hanks signed on to the Wachowski project called Cloud Atlas already. Now he is joined by Hugo Weaving and Ben Whishaw, according to THR.

Weaving is soon to be seen in Captain America: The First Avenger and has brought to live memorable character in the Matrix, V for Vendetta, Lord of the Rings, and Legend of the Guardians. Ben Whishaw is the blue-eyed John Keats actor from Bright Star. He’s also in 2010′s The Tempest.

Actress Halle Berry first delivered news about the exciting, multifaceted, novel adaptation and her role has been “firmed up”, too. The project is being described as “big budget”. That’s what I like to hear. Shooting could begin this fall.

Here’s some more 411:

Mitchell’s 2004 novel follows six story lines that include a 19th century American notary, a poor British musician in the 1930s, a journalist in 1970s California, a vanity press publisher in the early 21st century, a rebellious clone in the near future and a primitive Hawaiian tribesman surviving after the apocalypse. Each actor in the film will be playing multiple roles.

Andy and Lana Wachowski along with Tom Tykwer are behind the ambitious film.
