Emma Stone Replaces Natalie Portman Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?

Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel might have been a hit, with the graphic novel getting just as much attention, but the movie version of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies needs a revolving door to keep up with all the changing faces. First, Craig Gillespie stepped in as director after Mike White bailed, and now Variety brings word that Emma Stone is being considered for a role that previously had Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman connected to it. Portman is staying on as a producer but she won’t be showing up in front of the camera.

Stone, who you’ll also be able to see as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man, has been offered the role of Elizabeth Bennet in the mash-up that combines Jane Austen’s classic work with modern zombie fiction. Considering that Stone has already had an encounter with the walking dead in Zombieland, she should feel right at home, although I doubt the clothing will be as comfortable in this period piece.

If she accepts the offer, Stone will be the first person cast for the project that was scripted by Marti Noxon and author Grahame-Smith.
