End of Watch For Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop the proverbial presses. We have star-powered casting news! I’m a huge Anna Kendrick fan. Let’s not forget, the quick-mouthed beauty revealed her chops way beyond Twilight when she received an Oscar nod for Up in the Air. Well, what new part is she up for? How about the role of Jake Gyllenhaal’s wife? Sounds win, win to me! And the lovely Michael Pena is involved, too? Shut up!
The Variety exclusive foretold of a film called End of Watch. Kendrick, along with actress Natalie Martinez (“most recently seen as Det. Sanchez on ABC’s Detroit 1-8-7“) are both “in negotiations” for parts in the David Ayer directed film. Ayer wrote the screenplay for Training Day and directed Christian Bale in Harsh Times.
End of Watch “follows the longtime partnership of two LAPD officers as they confront marriage, love, fatherhood and the harsh realities of the Los Angeles streets.” I’m a sucker for such films, although lately they have rung mediocre for me. Pride and Glory had only some stand out scenes and Brooklyn’s Finest sort of fell flat. Takers was a bright spot, though.
Kendrick and Martinez would play the love interests for cops Gyllenhaal and Pena. Pena of Crash and The Lincoln Lawyer is easily one of my top 10 actors in Hollywood today. Aside from returning to Forks, Washington for Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, part 1, hitting this November, Kendrick is also attached to bitter-sweet comedy 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen.
