FX’s Powers Casts Jason Patric as Christian Walker

FX has cast its leading actor for its upcoming adaptation of comic book series Powers. Jason Patric will star as homicide detective Christian Walker who specializes in solving cases involving people with superpowers, known as “powers”. FX’s John Landgraf spoke about the casting of Patric and compared the casting choice to the series’ long development, saying, “We’ve been asked repeatedly why it has taken so long to bring our series adaptation of Powers to fruition. It is for the same reason we cast Jason Patric in this role; we are aiming for something extraordinary.” Landgraf goes on to praise Patric, “The lead role of Detective Christian Walker is an extremely layered character, and we needed Jason, who was so brilliant in films like Narc and Rush, to bring him fully to life. He is pitch perfect for this role and we are honored that he chose FX for his first foray into episodic television.”
This won’t be the first comic book adaptation Patric has appeared in. Last year he was in The Losers, based on the Vertigo comic book series of the same name.
Production on the pilot is set to begin next month in Chicago. Also starring in the series is Charles S. Dutton, Lucy Punch and Bailee Madison. The Walking Dead writer Charles H. Eglee will write the series and the original comic book writers Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming will executive produce. Michael Dinner is also an executive producer as well as director of the pilot.
