Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins Kiefer Sutherland in FOX’s Touch

Some shows just don’t catch on, but the leads can still find work in Hollywood if they can prove they only need a really good story in order to shine, and Deadline reports that Gugu Mbatha-Raw is getting ready for her shining moment during midseason.

If she looks familiar, it’s because Mbatha-Raw was in J.J. Abrams’ incredibly short-lived NBC show, Undercovers. Making a move from the peacock to the Fox network, she’ll now be showing up with Kiefer Sutherland in Tim Kring’s Touch, a show that’s about as close to a sure thing as you can get in Tinsel Town.

In Touch, Martin (Sutherland) discovers that his son, Jake, is using numbers to communicate with him, and it looks like the genius boy is even able to predict events before they happen. David Mazouz plays Jake, Danny Glover is a professor, and Mbatha-Raw will portray Clea Hopkins, a social worker evaluating Martin’s living situation in an effort to decide if Jake should remain in Martin’s care.

Touch is scheduled to swoop in as a midseason replacement to fill the void when another show tanks… and it looks like there will be plenty to choose from. Until then, you’ll be able to catch Mbatha-Raw in Larry Crowne with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts on July 1st.
