Lauren Cohan and Scott Wilson in Walking Dead Season 2

Two of the most popular characters of The Walking Dead universe have at last been cast for the upcoming second season according to TV Guide. First up, Scott Wilson will be playing the owner of a farm the survivors stumble upon, Hershel Greene. The farm has seen its fair share of zombies, but Hershel and his family have done well for themselves, all things considering. “He is the patriarch of the family,” says executive producer Gale Anne Hurd. “He’s a veterinarian with a great sense of humanity and a very unique take on the Walkers.” In the comics, Hershel refused to kill any zombies, believing that the victims could be cured somehow. And it looks like the outcome of that naivety will be same in the show as Hurd says, “not everyone in his family survives.”
Playing Hershel’s daughter Maggie is Lauren Cohan. She’s no stranger to these supernatural type shows, having appeared in Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and most recently Chuck. I’m not as pumped with Cohan’s casting as I am with Wilson’s. She’s pretty, but I’ve never found her to be that strong of an actress. For the longest time I didn’t even know she was American, since I’ve never seen her play a role that didn’t have a British accent. She plays the sexy British woman role well enough, but this is a completely different kind of series.
Cohan and Wilson will be joining Pruitt Taylor Vince (playing Hershel’s neighbor, Otis) as recurring characters for The Walking Dead Season 2.
