Liam Hemsworth Gone AWOL? Aimee Teegarden to Follow?

The world’s eyes may have been on his brother Chris Hemsworth when Thor burst onto the big screen, but today’s news is all about Liam Hemsworth, soon to be seen in the hugely anticipated dystopian novel adaptation, The Hunger Games. Variety reports, when Hunger Games is a wrap, the young Australian will star in the upcoming indie film AWOL. Joining him are actors Austin Stowell, Teresa Palmer and Aimee Teegarden, provided they move forward and sign the dotted line. They are all in “final negotiations” now.
AWOL, helmed by first-time director Danny Mooney, is based on the true story of “a young soldier in Vietnam who gets dumped by his hometown girl,” set to be portrayed by Teegarden. Hemsworth would be the soldier’s best friend who goes AWOL along with him. “Together, they return to the States to win her back.” Chris Lowell and Max Adler are also in negotiations for roles. I’m curious about this one, folks. How do two soliders get from Vietnam to the U.S with a war on?
Set to begin shooting in mid-July, part of the background of the film will feature the anti-war movement of the University of Michigan. If you’re a new fan of Liam Hemsworth, don’t forget to watch his work in the Miley Cyrus film The Last Song. But what I can’t wait for is his part as Gale Hawthorne, best friend of Katniss Everdeen.
Friday Night Lights actress, Teegarden, will be seen in Scream 4 and in Disney’s Prom, as well as the indie thriller Beneath the Darkness.
