Michelle Obama visits Miranda Cosgrove on Nickelodeon’s iCarly

iCarly is going to be getting a very special guest star according The Associated Press; Michelle Obama. Yes, the Michelle Obama. The first question that came to my mind was, “What’s the first lady doing on a Nicklodeon sitcom?” Well, she’ll be promoting Joining Forces, which for those who don’t know is an initiative that’s aimed at increasing support for military families.

“Okay, but how does that work with iCarly?” Good question sir. iCarly’s main character, Carly Shay, has a father who is a colonel in the military and is serving his country overseas. Obama comes in to the picture when Carly’s friends do some rule bending in order for Carly to have a web chat with her dad on his birthday, and that’s when Obama shows up. She’s not going to reprimand Carly though, she’s there for noble reasons. It will more than likely be a situation where Obama points out they wouldn’t have needed to break rules if they had had the government support they deserve.

Show creator Dan Schneider had the episode specifically made for Obama and Joining Forces. This isn’t supposed to be a big political statement, because Joining Forces is about helping these families stay in touch. It should make you feel good that Carly gets to talk to her dad and the first lady supports that need. The Obama episode is going to air sometime in January, during the shows fourth season. Also appearing in a guest role in the season is The Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parsons.
