MTV’s Jersey Shore Cast Safe After Season 5?

Recently there have been rumors circulating that after Season 5 of MTV’s Jersey Shore the cast would be left behind for new cast members. The rumor stems from the cost of paying the stars of the reality series, which is reportedly $100,000 an episode per cast member. However, a spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter these rumors are not true, saying, “We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun. We currently have no plans to recast the show.”
Even if they were to recast, many of the current stars of Jersey Shore have spin-offs in the works. Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi are moving in together with a camera crew capturing every second of footage while Paul “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio will get a show following his attempt at being a DJ. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is also said to have something in the works with MTV. Any spin-offs would be filmed during Jersey Shore‘s break time.
Chris Linn, executive vice president of programming and head of production, was confident that these new shows wouldn’t snag the focus away from Jersey Shore. “I have to say, again, they feel very different from Jersey Shore and each of these cast members has so much more depth and different sides and layers to them than you see on Jersey Shore,” he said. “I think it allows us to expand out from the base of Jersey Shore without taking away from what Jersey Shore is. They would continue to be involved in any potential future cycles of Jersey Shore. That’s really a different experience because they’re on vacation and it’s a group dynamic.”
