The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Captain America Posters

Just in case the recently yanked ‘red-band’ trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo didn’t clue you in on the fact that the movie would be a bit on the edgy side, the recent posters from IndieWire and SlashFilm should give you a hint of what’s in store. At least these international posters reveal a bit of the grit; there’s a very good chance the U.S. versions will be a little more sanitized… because we apparently have very delicate sensibilities in the States. Sheesh! Yeah, right.

With Daniel Craig doing his scowling thing, it might be easy to mistake this for a promo for the next Bond flick, but Craig is considerably less suave this time around as a reporter who bites off more than he can chew. Rooney Mara, the girl with the dragon tattoo, is looking sexy and dangerous and… topless? Yep, and you can already see the ugly face of censorship raising its ugly head because the poster above is slightly different from the one below. Spot the difference? There’s a definite curve under her left arm in one photo but she seems to be incredibly flat-chested in the other. Photoshop at its best?

All I can say is if the poster is enough to get your undies tied in a knot then you definitely don’t want to watch this movie.

Moving on to something with a little more patriotic flavor, which ironically originated at Cinemarcado, Collider found some nifty international poster for Captain America: The First Avenger. I use the word nifty because they definitely aren’t cool. Still, the movie opens on July 22nd so any promos are cool at this point.

Of course, we have to have the main man with the big star on his chest. I’m still surprised that Chris Evan looks as believable as he does in the Captain America outfit.

We can’t have a hero without a villain and Hugo Weaving delivers in a big way as the Red Skull, which we got a little peek at earlier, courtesy of EW.

I guess we could have a hero without a lady-love, but things wouldn’t be as interesting so we have to throw Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter into the mix.

While I’m expecting some serious changes for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I wouldn’t be surprised if what you see above is exactly what the States will get for Captain America: The First Avenger.
