The Walking Dead Season 2 Cast Details

Probably my favorite comic book right now is The Walking Dead. By extension, I also love the AMC show that’s based on it. What’s great about them both is I can love them equally because they’re not the same. The show has done different things with the same characters, setting itself apart from the book. It sometimes goes down a different path than the book, or spares a character’s life that originally died. It’s those differences that have me excited to see more familiar faces from the comic show up on the TV show.

TV Line released some casting info for a few character’s that fans will recognize as denizens of Hershel’s farm:

Hershel himself is a vet — as in a veterinarian, not a veteran (that I know of!) — a Wilford Brimley type, though I don’t think a mustache of legendary proportions is mandatory for auditioning actors. His daughter, Maggie, sounds like a younger version of Andrea with better horseback-riding skills. (Ginger Snaps’ Katharine Isabelle, call your agent!) Finally, there’s Otis, the middle-aged ranch foreman who’s such a sweetheart that he all but loses it when he accidentally shoots a fellow survivor.

The big question on my mind is will the survivors meet these new additions the same way they did in the book, or will it have it’s own twist on it? Since Shane is alive and well, they’ll get to meet him and that right there could be enough to change things drastically. And since we already have a racist in Daryl Dixon, I wonder if they’ll drop that aspect of Otis’s character.
