Torchwood is coming. To quote BoomTron‘s own Marty from this spring, “What if nobody died? It might sound like a great idea but TVLine reveals that the Torchwood team discovers the reality of immortality is a lot darker than the ideal.” The intriguing plot was revealed by Torchwood creator Russell T. Davies as he described his plans for bringing Torchwood: Miracle Day to the STARZ network.
The British sci fi series got its start in Britain. The BBC show has enjoyed seasons 1 through 3, following the Torchwood Institute’s team of alien hunters. As for Torchwood: Miracle Day, mostly shot in Los Angeles, it constitutes season 4, but is for the first time readily available to Americans via STARZ. Davies said to io9, “it’s very much the next step. It’s not a new version, it’s not a reboot. We’re simply moving countries.”
Following the concept buzz, we discovered teaser one and teaser two, followed by some character pics.
Actors more familiar to an American populous who have joined the series, set to premier on STARZ on 8 July, are Mekhi Phifer, Bill Pullman, and Dollhouse‘s Dichen Lachman.
Today we have an extended preview, just for you. The behind the scenes look described the show as a “high velocity” thriller with an “ever deepening mystery at its core.” Further, the big scale of the global conspiracy promises to “surprise”. Resemblances to the X-Files and the inclusion of actress Dichen Lachman have me sold. “People near death don’t get better,” Pullman foreshadows. The dynamic Jack Harkness, leader of the bunch of operatives, is sure to wow. In fact, the cast refers to the lead pair, of which he is one half, a pair of “dynamos.”
Will you be tuning in? Let’s just hope it doesn’t fizzle like The Event.

Will not tune in. My love story with Torchwood died with Ianto Jones during season 3. This show doesn’t respect his fans.I don’t see the point in watching a show where you cannot get attached to the characters because they will all die for shock value, except Gwen because she is the center of the show despite Russell telling us (but sometimes he forget) that it is Jack…He should have say from the start that he wanted to tell Gwen’s story (he couldn’t because he used Jack’s popularity in Who to get this show). It would have avoided a lot of misunderstanding…And show more respect to the fans…
I can’t wait to watch it. I will miss Ianto but am looking forward to the show going in a new direction.
Big surprise… more whining from someone obsessed with Ianto. Get over it. He was one character who was supposed to die in Season 1, then again in Season 2. From the beginning, Torchwood was built around Jack and Gwen. And honestly? The loss of Tosh and Owen was far greater than losing the teaboy.
If you don’t want to watch it? Then don’t. There’s plenty of us real fans who ARE looking forward to Miracle Day, as well as the new fans who will be coming on board.
As far as I know I just answered the question which was “will you tune in” and explained why I will not. What’s your problem? Obsessed with this show?
