Today, we have good news for Twilight Saga fans everywhere. We are sure you are aware that there is another book by famed author Stephenie Meyer. The tome is called The Host and features neither vampires nor werewolves. Celebrated as an original story of science fiction for people who don’t necessarily like science fiction, the YA romance, is about love in the midst of an alien invasion and it takes place, not in rainy Washington, but in the desert of the American Southwest. Best of all, The Host is soon to be a feature film.

In fact, THR is reporting that a release date has been put into place for the exciting motion picture. March 29, 2013, is when actress Saoirse Ronan will bring to life Wanderer, the symbiotic life form, and the girl she inhabits, called Melanie. Wanderer’s race is taking over mankind one human body at a time, but Melanie’s psyche won’t go away quietly and beings rubbing off on Wanderer to the point that they both end up loving the same man.

The date comes thanks to the deal Open Road Films struck to win U.S. distribution rights for the film. Andrew Niccol will direct and plans to being filming on location in Louisiana and New Mexico in February of 2012. He is also reported to have adapted the screenplay. His other works include sci-fi thriller Gattaca (writer/director), The Truman Show (writer/producer), and Simone starring Al Pacino (writer/producer/director).

Meyer says “I’m thrilled to be adding another fantastic partner to an already amazing group. Everyone involved has so much passion for the project. It really is a dream team.” Wehn we hear more, you will, too!
