Bloody Conan the Barbarian Red Band Teaser

A line like, “When a Cimmerian feels thirst, it is a thirst for blood,” lets you know that a ‘General Audience’ trailer just isn’t going to cut it. Fortunately, the new ‘Red Band’ trailer for Conan the Barbarian gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

We’re talking about Conan here and ‘Red Band’ means weak stomachs need proceed no further because the trailer below has plenty of blood, plenty of action, and lots of sword-swinging. There’s also a little male-on-female horizontal action going on but the preview is still discreet enough that it could still be for general audiences. Dammit!

Incidentally, if you’re an animal lover, I’m pretty confident that no animals were harmed when Conan busts that horse upside the head with the big-ass chain.

Jason Momoa makes an impressive Conan, but it might be a little hard to keep from comparing him to that other sword-swinger, Khal Drogo, from HBO’s Game of Thrones. Rose McGowan is looking positively evil as the desert sorceress and Ron Perlman is busy being Ron Perlman as Conan’s father. The action is fast and furious so you might want to check out the character posters to get a good look at everybody.

Muscular dudes swinging steel, a sexy woman doing the same, and enough tough-guy one-liners to bring out a laugh without seeming cheesy (how many names do I need?)  makes Conan look like it might actually be a contender at the box office. What do you think?
