Harry Lennix Joins SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL

Superman: Man of Steel, Warner Bros, DC Comics

Actor Harry Lennix is known for his role as Commander Lock in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. He was also Boyd Langton in Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse. The super news is that the actor has now been cast in Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel.

The new Lennix character is described as a “high-ranking” military type by the name of General Swanwick according to the Variety exclusive. I wonder what Superman will be involved in that calls the attention of the military.

The DC Comics reboot comes from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures and is scheduled for a December 2012 release. Also on the cast are the new man of steel himself, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. I’m a big fan of Amy’s. If you had told me a year ago she would be the tough investigative Daily Planet reporter, I would have laughed, but aside from her bubbly charm, the actress showed some grit in The Fighter opposite Mark Wahlberg and Chris Nolan’s Batman, Christian Bale. Of course Nolan and writer David S. Goyer are on the Man of Steel development team, too.

Michael Shannon is set to play the villainous Zod, Russell Crowe is in negotiations for the role of Jor-El, Sup’s birth father, with the beautiful Julia Ormond circling the part of the Kryptonian’s wife, Lara. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, on the other hand, seem solid as Johnathon and Martha Kent. Christopher Meloni of Law & Order fame has a big part but no one will tell us what it is. And finally, German actor Antje Traue, has been cast as another villain.
