Jennifer Love Hewitt In Jewtopia

Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jewtopia

Jewtopia may have began as a bestselling book, but an adaptation of the same name is headed to theaters with actress Jennifer Love Hewitt in a starring role. Her hot co-star is Crossing Jordan alumnus Ivan Sergei. Gee, and we thought the former Ghost Whisperer might be tied up on television’s Law & Order: SVU.

Jewtopia is described as a little bit Wedding Crashers and a little bit My Big Fat Greek Wedding. That formula sounds like a winner. The indie romance follows two childhood best friends as they reunite as adults. The plot thickens when Sergei’s character asks the female friend “to help him pretend to be Jewish so he can romance a woman,” reported Variety. Ah ha! That also sounds very My Best Friend’s Wedding, which is another winning ingredient. Sergei’s character is a plumber after a certain nice, if not bossy Jewish girl, portrayed by Hewitt. No word yet on who will play Sergei’s female friend.

Bryan Fogel is all set to direct with a script he reportedly co-wrote with Sam Wolfson. As a play, an adaptation of Jewtopia “became the longest-running original comedy in the history of L.A. theater”.
