Johnny Depp Back for Pirates of the Caribbean 5?

Yes, me mateys, if you took that journey to your local theater to enjoy (or simply endure) Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides, you may have noticed there was some footage after the credits, hinting that there would be more Pirates to come. Oh me, oh my, I think they’re serious. Deal making buzz has it Mr. Johnny Depp, Captain Jack Sparrow himself, and the center of the plot twisting, seafaring pictures, is “close” to a deal to star in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. The exclusive came from TheWrap.
“Hopefully, if this one does well, (Depp) will want to come back and play the character again,” Bruckheimer told the L.A. Times. “But it’s going to depend on the screenplay. It always does. He’s maniacal about not wanting to disappoint his audience.” Rumor has it a script draft is already in the works. I wonder if it will feature any missionaries or mermaids. Don’t know what I’m talking about? See BoomTron’s film review.
Pirates 4 may have opened in May, but during the 4th of July weekend, audiences were still showing interest, allowing the film to take home over $1 billion at the global box office.
TheWrap also reported that Depp and Bruckheimer will re-team beyond the high seas for a different project, The Lone Ranger movie, for which Depp will act as Tonto. Will he be channeling his Dead Man days? That television adaptation begins production in October.
