Law & Order: SVU Tackles Schwarzenegger Scandal

It looks like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has plans to bring the Arnold Schwarzenegger sex scandal to the small screen according to TVLine. SVU has a long history of borrowing from real life events to make its episodes, loosely basing its fictionalized crimes on these high profile cases. With the kind of media attention Schwarzenegger has been getting for the secret son he had with one of his household staff it doesn’t surprise me that SVU would go for it. The only issue is there was no sex crime in the Schwarzenegger scandal, so the writers are going to have to make one up.
Schwarzenegger’s counterpart in the episode will be Andrew Raines, a member of New York’s royal families and a bit of a philanthropist in his 50s. He’ll be the kind of guy you can’t say no to. His wife Kathleen will be his Maria Shriver, equally as charming as her husband with a touch of ferocity when it comes to the protection of her family. She’s the kind of gal who doesn’t mind getting a little dirty when she feels threatened. As with the real life story, Kathleen discovers Andrew has a secret son. Que the drama. The actual sex crime is supposed to involve their son, Tripp, but we have don’t know exactly how.
I kind of feel bad for Schwarzenegger. People make mistakes and they don’t all deserve to have television shows based on those mistakes. But that’s what you get for being a celebrity. I’m sure tons of people will tune in to see this particular episode next season, which will be missing Chris Meloni and B.D. Wong, but feature new cast members Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino.
