Nina Dobrev Dishes on Somerhalder and Vampire Diaries Triangle

Nina Dobrev Paul Wesley Ian Somerhalder The Vampire Diaries CW

You might think you’ve entered an alternate dimension when The Vampire Diaries returns for Season 3, but HollywoodCrush caught up with Nina Dobrev to help us out by finding out about the new evil Stefan (Paul Wesley) and the sort-of heroic Damon (Ian Somerhalder). There are plenty of changes taking place in Mystic Falls, but the strangest change will probably be Stefan getting in touch with his dark side. Of course, while it might seem strange to us, Dobrev says Welsey is thrilled with the new challenge. “Paul is very happy that Stefan is now going to the bad side,” she says. “He’s really excited about it, and I think it’s going to be great for him. He’s a very strong actor, so it’s awesome.”

When the hero becomes a villain, does the villain take on the heroic role? Dobrev had to think about it a little bit, and her response indicates that we shouldn’t expect Damon to be putting on a cape or suiting up in shining armor anytime soon. “He’s as heroic as Damon can be,” Dobrev shared after giving it a little thought. “Damon will always have a rough, kind of tough side to him, so take that as you will. He has redeeming qualities but he’s still damaged goods in many ways, as we all are. We’ve all got baggage.”

Season 3 brings more than just an evil Stefan and a good (??) Damon because a trio of new characters is joining The Vampire Diaries and there’s also a new vampire hunter coming to town.
