No Kristin Chenoweth in Glee Season 3

glee Kristin Chenoweth

From the way Kristin Chenoweth tells it, in an interview with Zap2it, it looks like Season 3 of Glee will not see a return of her guest character April. Ryan Murphy is looking to trim the fat away from the series by not having any special guest stars or those themed episodes that feature specific artists’ music. When Chenoweth spoke with Zapt2it she said, “I think he’s trying to get his show back. I think he’s trying to really concentrate on his characters. I actually understand that. I get it. People want to see those characters.”

I’m actually impressed that Murphy can admit that Season 2 had too much stunt-casting going on, from appearances by Chenoweth and others like Britney Spears and Gwyneth Paltrow. Shifting the focus back to the main cast of characters is the right move to make, especially with so many of them poised to graduate at the end of the season.  Murphy, who wrote the first two seasons along with co-producers Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, has pumped up his writing staff to six for Season 3. This can be seen as a move to bring more to the character scenes. You know, the scenes where the cast aren’t singing?

As for Chenoweth, she’ll be busy supporting her first country album as well as acting in her new show that’s just been picked up called Good Christian Belles. The new show stars Leslie Bibb whose character’s marriage ends and she is forced to move to her Texas hometown.
