Paul Wesley of Vampire Diaries in ROMEO AND JULIET?

Paul Wesley, CW, Vampire Diaries, Romeo and Juliet

BoomTron faithful know Hollywood is gearing up from a brand spankin’ new re-telling of the Shakespeare classic, Romeo and Juliet. Today’s hottest buzz is a familiar face from the CW’s Vampire Diaries could earn himself a role. Actor Paul Wesley plays the smooch-able 162-year-old vampire Stefan Salvatore, who, of course, appears to be in his mid-twenties because vamps have got the luck; immortal good looks and all of that. In fact, you might have thought Wesley would be a shoe-in for the part of Romeo, but not so. British actor Douglas Booth, age 19, took that prize.

Instead Mr. Wesley has his sights on the role of Count Paris in the Carlo Carlei film. Will he sign the dotted line? We will let you know! True Grit phenom Hailee Steinfeld has signed on to play young Juliet, Julian Fellowes wrote the script and another CW face took the role of Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. Holly Hunter co-stars as Juliet’s Nurse and production is expected to begin in September, according to Variety.
