Ray Stevenson is Firefly in G.I. JOE 2 Cobra Strikes

I’ve always thought Firefly was one of the biggest badasses in COBRA (certainly he had one of the great designs) so even though this movie franchise is most certainly not going in the direction that I – a G.I. Joe fan – would care for, you can’t fault the casting of Ray Stevenson, the former Punisher, and more importantly, Titus Pullo of HBO’s Rome fame. Stevenson was also recently in MARVEL’s Thor where he portrayed one of the Warriors Three. Back in March we got the word that the G.I. Joe sequel, directed by Jon Chu of Justin Bieber move fame, would not be bringing back most of the cast from the first film, only retaining Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and Duke (Channing Tatum). In a comment that made all JOE fans collectively sigh, recently we were told this movie would be for the ninja fans, an obvious attempt to follow in the footsteps of the tradition of great ninja movies from Hollywood.

Already added to Cobra Strikes are Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson as Road Block, Elodie Young as Jinx the RZA, and D.J. Cotrona, and most recently,recently laid off Wonder Woman Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye. G.I. JOE 2 is scheduled for an October 2012 release.
