The Bourne Legacy Gets New Killer, Goes For Oscar

Oscar Isaac might have missed out on the lead role when he tested for Tony Gilroy’s The Bourne Legacy, but Deadline brings word that Isaac made enough of an impression to still land a major role in the film.
Isaac, who appeared in Sucker Punch and stars alongside Ryan Gosling in the upcoming Drive, has landed the role of Number 3 in The Bourne Legacy. At first glance, that might appear to rank right down there with ‘girl on the sidewalk’ or one of the anonymous ‘red shirts’ that was always getting blown away on Star Trek, but Number 3, a brain-washed assassin, is apparently an important character in the film.
Edward Norton is still in talks for another villain role in the Bourne spin-off and Rachel Weisz is reportedly pretty close to grabbing the female lead opposite Jeremy Renner, although there’s no specific information on the character she might play.
Aside from a few skimpy outfits, Isaac was the best thing about Sucker Punch so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do as an assassin squaring off against Renner’s pseudo-Bourne.
