Thor 2 back with Chris Hemsworth, New Director

Do you remember that funny quote from Thor on the big screen? If you didn’t see the picture in theaters, check out our movie review and decide whether you might take it home on video. You are going to want to get caught up with the super hero goodness because Thor will return in a sequel.

Second films were confirmed for the thunder god and for the soon to be released Captain America franchise and I think it is quite nifty that those titles stand alone considering their stars will also appear in The Avengers. But it was Deadline.com that revealed director Kenneth Branagh will not be the Thor sequel’s director.

July 26th, 2013 is the scheduled release date for Thor 2 and the hunky Chris Hemsworth will return as the title character, however Branagh has made a “mutual and amicable” departure from the title. The good news is he may be around in a consulting capacity at least. His movie did, after all “gross $437 million worldwide”.

Avengers hero Hawkeye made his first cameo appearance in the first Thor, where Natalie Portman served as Hemsworth’s co-star.

So much is still unrevealed about The Avengers from director Joss Whedon, but filming has already begun, a little birdie told us it had the best Marvel movie script ever and you can re-live the fantastic teaser from last year’s comic con now.
