Alan Ball is the man when it comes to bringing Charlaine Harris’s novels to the small screen and THR reports, he’ll be doing that times 5. Thursday, during HBO’s presentation at the summer Television Critics’ Association tour, Ball confirmed he had signed the dotted line in order to add another year to the popular paranormal series.

“There will be an end for me at some point but I just closed a deal to do another season,” he said. “I don’t have any desire to leave because I’m having more fun than I ever had in my life.”

The Hollywood Reporter also reported Ball has a “couple pilots” in development with HBO. Will these be True Blood spin-offs or something else? It will be interesting to find out. As far as True Blood, Ball also noted the writers would work on on explaining “how a vampire is made” in season 5. “We’re creating new characters for Season 5,” Ball said.

Ball will also direct “a dark comedy pitch” he co-developed with Elan Mastai for distribution via Paramount.
