Vampire Diaries Gets a New Werewolf

Vampire Diaries CW

David Gallagher will be transforming into a werewolf for the third season of Vampire Diaries according to TV Line. Appearing in two episodes of the CW show, Gallagher plays a werewolf named Ray Sutton who has a pretty nasty encounter with super old vampire Klaus in Tennessee (Joseph Morgan, who was made a series regular for Season 3 after being recurring). With a description like that and such a short time on the show, Ray might not live that long. I hope it doesn’t go down that way though. The more werewolves the better I always say.

You might know Gallagher as Simon from the CW’s 7th Heaven, which lasted for 11 (wow) seasons, so doing Vampire Diaries is kind of like coming home for him. But it wasn’t playing Simon all those years ago that got him the werewolf gig. It was J.J. Abrams’ nostalgia-inducing Super 8, where Gallagher played Donny, the stoner camera store clerk. I guess that’s just the kind of character they were looking for.

At this point I can’t tell you when exactly Gallagher will show up to wolf out, but when he does he had better put up a fight when he meets Klaus. If it were up to me, a vampire would never, ever beat a werewolf. But that’s just me and who knows, maybe it will be a draw. Also guest starring on the show is Sarah Cooper in an unknown role. The third season of Vampire Diaries begins Thursday, Sept. 15 with a big party for Elena.
