Carmelo Anthony in Law and Order SVU

Carmelo Anthony, NY Knicks, Law & Order: SVU, NBC

Crime and basketball will mix in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU as New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony appears on the set. The celeb will play himself for Special Victims Unit according to TVGuide.com. Another NBA star, Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat, will also make it in front of the camera for the episode, titled “Personal Fouls.” It unfolds around a youth basketball coach (The Wonder Years actress Dan Lauria) who may just be “a sexual predator”.

This episode of SVU is not to be missed. It is will be the second episode of an all new Season 13, arriving 28 September. (The season premier is called “Scorched Earth” and hits 21 September.) The other stars appearing alongside the athletes are True Blood actor Mehcad Brooks and rapper Heavy D.

I assume Season 13 will be the last featuring most of the core gang we all know and love. NBC seems to be hunting for replacements for their two long time stars, Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. In fact, Meloni is already out. He did not renew his contract, but is playing Colonel Hardy in the new Superman picture, Man of Steel. Hargitay will stick around for this, her final season. Danny Pino will appear as Det. Nick Amaro. We’ll all have to watch closely and decide if he can fill Meloni’s shoes. Meanwhile, watch for Kelli Giddish, who might just take Hargitay’s job. Faithful Richard Belzer and Ice-T reprise their roles. Diane Neal (as ADA Casey Novak) and Stephanie March (as ADA Alexandra Cabot) also return.
