CASTLE gets Iceman for Fillion and Katic

Castle ABC

Things are taking a cold turn for Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic). According to TV Guide, William Atherton will be guest starring on the show’s fourth season in a role that some might find a little… familiar. Atherton’s character is a “life-extension researcher” named Dr. Ari Weiss. And what methods does he use to extend life? Why cryogenic freezing of course! Yes, Dr. Weiss is just one terminally ill wife away from being Castle’s version of Mr. Freeze.

So how this is going to work is as follows; Castle and Beckett come to a murder scene that doesn’t seem to have a victim present. In trying to find the body they are led to Dr. Weiss’ work and to his cache of frozen corpses. Sounds like he might be taking murder victims back to his research lab and freezing them until he can figure out a way to bring them back to life. If he ever figured it out how to reanimate them, this guy could easily find himself with an army of the undead. But then this would be a zombie show and we already have one of those. Still, a guy with a zombie army; that sounds awesome. Someone should do that on a show, like maybe Supernatural.

Atherton has been around for a long time. Us older folk will remember him from Die Hard, Die Hard 2 and Ghost Busters, where he played some of the biggest tools ever. He’s also appeared on Law & Order: SVU and Lost.
