Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 Mom Intro

I always like meeting the moms of television characters and it’s finally time to meet Jackson Avery’s (Jesse Williams) mom in Grey’s Anatomy’s eighth season. Playing the surgical resident’s mother is actor/director Debbie Allen according to Entertainment Weekly. Not much is known about Avery’s mother at this point, just that her name is Catherine Avery. This likely means she is the doctor of the famous surgeon, Dr. Harper Avery, who we met during the shows sixth season. Catherine will make her first appearance during the fifth episode of the upcoming season.
Heavy Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 Tease for Ellen Pompeo
Introducing Jackson’s mother will allow the show to explore a bit more of their family. At this point that could likely mean anything. The show will likely dig deeper in to Jackson’s relationship with his family, perhaps shedding more light on why they never pushed him to be a doctor. Maybe Catherine has a strained relationship with her son? I don’t think that’s been implied at all, but you never know. As long as she’s not over the top crazy, whatever they do with her should be fine.
Grey’s Anatomy Adds Nurse Gloria
This will not be the first time Debbie Allen has stepped on to the set of Grey’s Anatomy, although it will be her first time doing it as an actor. In the past she has directed three episodes of Grey’s, as well as directing other notable TV shows, like Everybody Hates Chris and That’s So Raven. As an actress, she stared in the 1982 series Fame.
