Jennifer Love Hewitt Brings Her Client List to TV

Jennifer Love Hewitt Lifetime The Client List

Jennifer Love Hewitt is sticking with the sex business as Lifetime picks up The Client List for ten episodes in 2012.

Hewitt was first seen as the Texas housewife doing what she could to make ends meet in the 2010 Lifetime movie, The Client List, which she also executive produced. Deadline now brings word that Lifetime, in addition to picking up the new series, has signed a first-look development deal for series’ and movies produced under Hewitt’s Fedora Films. The deal also includes putting Hewitt in the director’s chair for a future Lifetime movie. All in all, it’s not a bad set-up for the former Ghost Whisperer.

The movie version of The Client List introduced us to Samantha Horton, a Texas housewife forced to find a new way to make a living after she loses her job and her husband decides to hit the road. The twisted tale, which happens to be based on a true story, follows Samantha as she becomes involved in the world of prostitution, gets hooked on cocaine, gets clean and sober, and then turns over her client list when she’s busted by the cops.

The new series will follow Horton as she works on balancing her two lives as a single mom and a businessperson working the world’s oldest profession.

“Beloved by viewers, Jennifer Love Hewitt is an amazing talent on and off the screen and we are very excited about continuing our relationship with her on The Client List,” says Nancy Dubuc, president and general manager of Lifetime Networks. “This project falls in line with our strategy to expand Lifetime’s slate with unapologetic programming that will surprise audiences.”

Hewitt will also be showing up on the big screen in the film adaptation of Jewtopia.
