Jessica Hecht in Desperate Housewives Season 8

Desperate Housewives ABC

UPDATED: What the Hecht? Andrea Parker in Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives has Tom Scavo (Doug Savant) getting a divorce from Lynette (Felicity Huffman), which means he’ll be able to go out and find himself some strange, and who could be better than Jessica Hecht? If you’re a long time Friends like I am, then you don’t need me to tell you who Hecht is. But for those not in the loop, Hecht was Susan, the spouse of Ross’s ex-wife turned lesbian Carol. Any Friends fan will be instantly excited to see Hecht, simply because she was on the extremely missed show.

There’s very little information about whom Hecht will play. All we know for sure at this point is that she will be a recurring love interest for Tom. Given how his relationship with Lynette deteriorated, it makes a lot of sense that Hecht would play someone who is attracted to the new man Tom became after his promotion in Season 7. The question at the front of my mind is how will Lynette feel about Tom dating another woman? Will she go out and find herself a new man or two? Divorces can lead to the two former partners competing to see who can “win” the divorce. A few one-night stands don’t add up to a healthy relationship however, which a recurring role seems to imply Tom will have with Hecht’s character.

Since doing Friends, Hecht has appeared on a number of TV shows, including Law & Order, Breaking Bad, Medium, CSI, Bored to Death and Nurse Jackie.
