Robert Pattinson Twilight Ian Somerhalder Vampire Diaries Teen Choice Awards

Team Edward has a new reason to celebrate after Robert Pattinson put a stake through the heart of Ian Somerhalder during the 2011 Teen Choice Awards and walked away as the top vampire.

While Twihards bask in the glory of their sparkly hero, fans of The Vampire Diaries are feeling the sting of defeat since Damon, along with the rest of the VD nominees got snubbed in the new ‘Choice Vampire’ category that was sponsored by the cancer awareness program, Cancer Bites.

Ian’s fellow Diaries nominees, Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev, probably weren’t viewed as serious contenders, but Damon has already dominated Edward in both Entertainment Weekly‘s ‘Sexiest Beast’ tournament and HollywoodLife.com’s Sexiest Vampire poll, so Pattinson’s victory is a shock. Other vamps that got trampled by Edward Cullen’s triumph were True Blood’s Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Twilight sibling, Rosalie (Nikki Reed).

I can understand everyone’s favorite vampire Viking in that line-up, but Rosalie? Really? I guess it’s not too weird to have her in that category because at least she’s a vampire, unlike Dobrev’s Elena. How did she end up in the ‘Choice Vampire’ listing?

Pattinson’s Twilight fame isn’t just providing him with nice trophies either; he recently showed that he has a pretty hefty bank account by landing towards the top of Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s Highest Earning Actors. Meanwhile, Somerhalder is getting ready to shake things up on The Vampire Diaries with a heroic (?) Damon.

Why would it be a shock that Rob beat Ian? They had three actors from the same show competing against each other. It divided the fans of TVD. Was it deliberate just to give the award to Rob? Too weird! Edward Cullen doesn’t even have fangs.

I definitely think the deck was stacked. No offense to Nikki Reed, but I don’t think Rosalie has a fan base that even comes close to equaling Team Edward so RPattz was essentially the only Twilight nominee.

Like you mentioned, Ian had to compete against his own co-stars, which probably whittled down the numbers he would have received if it was just Damon versus Edward.

I really hoped that Ian Somerhalder will win but, I guess TCA is all about popularity. Just look at Bieber winning the teen choice hottie, over Ian and Rob? really???

sheez! what’s wrong with teens now a days?

At least Ian still won male sci-fi/fantasy actor and their show 5 all in all so his fans still have something to be happy about.

It was totally UNFAIR for TVD. Having three co-stars nominated could only split the TVD fanbase vote three ways so none of them were able to win. They might just as well have handed the award to Rob in the first place without the charade of a fair vote. RIGGED – and so f*ing obvious about it.

Pattison won???? people are mad!!!! come on do not try that one, Pattison boy hotter & sexier than Ian Somerhalder, Ian is a man he has no competition from RobPat at least in my eyes.
