Sons of Anarchy Blame Mad Men for Gutted Walking Dead

Mad Men AMC

With all the drama going on at AMC, Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy, couldn’t help but take to Twitter and give his two cents on the situation, specifically targeting Mad Men. AMC has been having issues with all of its original programming, first starting when negotiations over contracts and budget with Mad Men became public, leading in to an attempt to shorten Breaking Bad’s fifth season and firing The Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont. It doesn’t help that AMC allowed the frustrating season finale of The Killing to exist.

When Sutter began ranting on Twitter, he blamed these issues on Mad Men creator Matt Weiner. “why darabont got fired — weiner. he held AMC hostage, broke their bank, budgets were slashed, s— rolled down hill onto [Breaking Bad showrunner Vince] Gilligan and Frank.” Of course Sutter was just getting started: “no one else wants to f—ing say it, but the greed of Mad Men is killing the other two best shows on tv — breaking bad and walking dead.” Sutter believes that “Darabont reacted strongly to slashed budgets. he made mistakes, he was fired. no creative in town will trust AMC to back up their artists.”

In a similar fashion to his Emmy rant a while back, Sutter was sure to mention he means no ill will to Weiner: “This is not me vs. Matt. the issue is that amc should not have compromised their other shows to appease his $$ demands. it was bad business.” Following his rant, Sutter deactivated his Twitter, for reasons he explains on his blog.
