The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender bridge!

Get ready to practice your mad fire bending skills because a new official comic linking The Last Airbender to the animated sequel The Legend of Korra is launching soon.
Multiple Eisner Award winner Gene Luen Yang, who just happens to be American-Born Chinese, is now the writer of the Dark Horse Comic, Avatar: The Last Airbender — The Promise Part 1, according to ComicsAlliance.com . The book is considered to be the official continuation of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and will actually bridge the gap between the events when Aang is Avatar and 70 years later during The Legend of Korra when Korra is Avatar.

Yang will work with Japanese art team “Gurihiru” (Avatar: The Last Airbender — The Lost Adventures) and creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko on the 80-page trade paperback. You can buy one January 25th, 2012.
This isn’t Yang’s first Avatar project in a way… In 2010 he created a webcomic all about his boycott of M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender film. Check out some of the preliminary art up above. When we learn more, you will, too!
