GAME OF THRONES Kingslayer in Horror Flick

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Game of Thrones, Jessica Chastain, The Help, The Debt, Guillermo del Toro, Mama

Guillermo del Toro is making sure the world stays horrified, one picture at a time, and Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the Danish actor who plays Jaime Lannister in the HBO series, will help him.

Aside from acting as HBO’s Kingslayer, Nikolaj has appeared as the star of his short-lived series New Amsterdam (Hey, I was watching that!), Kingdom of Heaven and Harrirson Ford starrer, Firewall. Now he joins actress Jessica Chastain in the upcoming Guillermo del Toro-produced horror movie, called Mama. Chastain is my new favorite actress. She was sweet, sassy and Southern in The Help and last weekend she kicked butt and took names as young Rachel Singer, one of the lead characters in The Debt. Chastain and Nikolaj are a good pairing, don’t you agree?

Mama, according to Variety will be distributed by Universal, directed by Andres Muschietti and unfolds when the young lead couple adopt their “long-lost nieces and nephews”. Probably supposed dead, the children are discovered surviving miraculously in the woods on their own for the past five years. But in Children of the Corn fashion, these youngsters are not what they seem. Heck, I’m scared already.

Guillermo del Toro was responsible for the fantastic vampire tale, Cronos, for Mimic and for Pan’s Labyrinth. He produced the unusually fun B-movie, While She Was Out and the Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce starrer Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.
